Summary
The player can throw an object they’re carrying at an enemy to attack or toward a target to produce various effects based on what’s being thrown. Since there are typically an abundance of objects that can be used as weapons throughout the environment, the player may pick up and throw them without worrying about running out.
Throwing is useful for:
Attacking enemies at a distance
Dealing high stamina damage
Incurring elemental reactions
Utilizing various object effects
Object Characteristics
The usefulness or effectiveness can range wildly from one object to another. Therefore it’s important for the player to prioritize what object’s they’re looking for in order to suit their needs. The properties of any object are determined by a few characteristics:
Weight
Strength
Property
The player throws a grenade which can cause most furniture to get knocked around. The object has the “combustible” property.
A trip mine has the “sticky“ and “combustible” properties with a unique additional effect causing it to explode if an enemy walks through it’s laser.
Properties
Objects may have one or more of the following properties:
Metal
Conducts electricity if it interacts with an electric shockwave, creating a mini-shockwave it can chain to other metal objects.
Electronic
Electronic device that creates a large electric shockwave if the object interacts with water.
Fragile
Breaks after thrown once. Can also break if shot, caught in an explosion or falls a certain distance.
Container
Releases a liquid, gas or other object if broken.
Flammable
Will catch fire and eventually burn away if exposed to fire.
Combustible
Explodes if thrown or if the object comes in contact with fire.
Sticky
Sticks to whatever surface it’s thrown at.
The player throws a heavy water cooler a short distance followed by a light weapon which travels much further.
Weight
Objects can vary in weight; typically discernable by their size. Weight affects the speed in which objects are thrown and the distance the player can throw them. The player’s Ranged level can improve both of those factors, making it easier to make use of heavier objects. Heavier objects also do more stamina damage to enemies when thrown at them and typically have higher strength.
Strength
The strength of an object determines the damage it’s capable of dealing when thrown or used for melee attacks. This stat is visible as a green number while the object is on the ground if the player is close enough to pick it up. Make sure to pay attention to this stat as it makes a huge difference in how effective an object is in battle.
